Per newsroom
Everyone on the desk files on the same plan.
A contributor is anyone who can file a draft into Siffo and decide what runs with it. Move a reporter from budget to environment, bring a stringer in for one flood, hand the night desk a login: the invoice is the same at the end of the month. The tier only changes when the room does.

What you are paying for
The plugin. Not somewhere to keep your story.
The page sits at your URL, under your masthead, next to your advertising, counted by your own analytics. Siffo holds nothing back as leverage. Stop paying and the archive does not change: every chart, map and timeline stays exactly as it last read, your copy is untouched, and the files you gave us come back in formats you can open without us. The only thing you lose is the next update.
The fine print, in plain words
Questions a desk editor asks before signing.
Answered the way we would answer them on the phone, including the answer that is not in our favour.
- What counts as a story?
- A published post carrying at least one Siffo element. Drafts do not count. Posts you publish without elements do not count. Editing or re-publishing the same post never counts a second time, and a story you spike before it runs never counts at all.
- Do elements stop working if we stop paying?
- They keep rendering the last known value and stop updating. A chart holds the figures it last read, a map holds the points it last drew, and a live figure holds the number it last retrieved, with the retrieval date still printed under it. Nothing is removed from your archive, no post is edited, and no page breaks. You lose the refresh, not the reporting.
- Can we export?
- Yes, at any time, from your own account and without asking us first. Charts come out as CSV, maps as GeoJSON, timelines and statistics as JSON, each one carrying the source file it was built from and the paragraph it cites. Photographs and video come back as you uploaded them, with the rights record attached. Analytics export as CSV.
- Who owns the data?
- You do. Your copy, your files, your elements, your readers and your per story analytics. Siffo does not sell it, licence it, publish it anywhere but your domain, or train anything on it. Cancel and you can take all of it with you first.
- Can we change tier?
- Yes, in either direction, from your account. A move up applies the moment you make it, so the desk is never blocked on a night when the story is ready. A move down applies at the start of the next month, and your stories, elements and analytics come with you.
