About

Built for African newsrooms, starting with Nigeria.

Siffo is an interactive storytelling platform for journalists who already have the reporting and do not have a developer.

The problem

The reporting is done. The page does not do it justice.

A reporter files a flood investigation with eleven wards named, a budget spreadsheet and forty photographs. It publishes as a wall of text.

Interactive storytelling is not new. What is new is a newsroom being able to do it without a developer, a design team and a two week build. In most Nigerian newsrooms those three things are the reason a chart never gets made.

So the work that was done in the field, the figures that were checked and the photographs that were paid for arrive at the reader as paragraphs. The reader skims. The desk moves on.

Siffo exists to close that gap at the point where it opens, which is the moment a draft is filed.

Draft copy. Written from the product brief so the page can be reviewed. Replace with the final wording when it is ready.

What Siffo is

An editorial tool that lives beside what you already run.

It is deliberately not several other things.

  • It is

An interactive storytelling platform that reads a filed draft and recommends ways to show the reporting, inside the CMS the newsroom already uses.

  • It is not a CMS

It does not replace WordPress. It sits inside it.

  • It is not a design tool

It builds storytelling elements, not posters, logos or social graphics.

  • It is not a scheduler

It has nothing to do with posting to social platforms.

  • It is not a writer

It never alters the journalist’s text. The original article stays the source of truth.

Who built it

A studio, working with the desks that will use it.

Siffo is built by SIFFO INTERACTIVE STUDIO LIMITED. The first integration is WordPress, because that is what most of the newsrooms we are building for already run. Other content systems follow in later phases.

Draft copy. Written from the product brief so the page can be reviewed. Replace with the final wording when it is ready.

Get started

Put Siffo on your WordPress and file one story through it.

Install the plugin, file the draft you are working on now, and read what Siffo offers to build from it. Refuse all of it and you have lost a minute.
